Making Brand Music

The bad news is; your market is full of noise.

The good news is: your market is full of noise.

No, it’s not a typo.

Let me say it this way.

When you know how to make music choosing you is simple and all that noise your competitors are churning out makes you shine even brighter.

You are going to make music. Choosing you just got a whole lot easier.

You are going to make music and your customers will dance to it.

How? Let’s walk through it.

It’s time to take a closer look at how stories work for you.

Myth is something we all understand and have for thousands of years - it is just there as an available resource should you choose to use it

Using the ‘frequency’ of story telling is how we make music in the marketplace. It is the tune that has our feet tapping even when we don't know why.

It is the tune that has our feet tapping even when we don't know why.

You are familiar enough with mythical battles, think Marvel, Star Wars, Hunger Games and of course the classics these tales draw on of Zues, Hercules, Cupid and all their powerful counterparts.

(Heads up to give you a hint of where this is going…one of those ancient Greek gods is called Nike. Yep, I am not kidding. The god of, no surprises here…victory.)

So who is telling these mythological tales for us all to dance to right now?

Male film directors…who else?

She who tells the mythological stories wins the battle.

She who tells the mythological stories wins the battle.

Where are our women centred mythologies? And yes, eastern traditions and in fact ancient Greek mythological traditions covered women led mythological tales but the retelling of these myths over centuries in a male dominated culture removed their powers.

In its current format we are asked to believe the Queen of the underworld in Greek mythology, Persephone was submissive to her male counterpart. Really? The goddess of darkness was a softy?

We can reconnect our communities to the music, through authentic brand storytelling. Your customers want to hear this tune desperately.

Your brand has the honour of placing your customers in a meaningful position in their world via storytelling.

Your brand has the honour of placing your customers in a meaningful position in their world via storytelling.

They are hungry for it and when they hear it in your brand story they tune in to the melody.

I am calling on all passionate business women to stand up and join me - and be part of new women led myths in branding that serve all of our communities better.

One song at a time.

Let’s dance.
